Michael founded PharmConsult in 2004 after deciding that hospitals and others in the healthcare industry had an unmet need for independent expert advice on hospital medication management and pharmacy matters.
He has been involved in various capacities in all of PharmConsult’s projects since then.
The projects have included reviews of public and private hospital pharmacy services, analysis of hospital medicine management processes and activities, provision of specialist advice to state and Federal health departments, market research, and management of tender processes for health services.
Michael has published research and opinion related to hospital medicine use, pharmacy services and effective use of technology.
His previous experience includes as:
- a director of pharmacy in public and private hospitals;
- the manager of the hospital pharmacy business of a national hospital wholesaler; and
- a Federal Councillor and chairman of a number of national committees of The Society of Hospital Pharmacists of Australia, and Editor-in-Chief of the Australian Journal of Hospital Pharmacy.
Michael is a recipient of the SHPA Medal of Merit (which is awarded for ‘outstanding service to Australian hospital pharmacy’).
